Paul Blart: Mall Cop (Kevin James) – Kevin James is a very likable and bankable television star with one good movie acting turn in the movie Hitch. He has to carry this whole marginally amusing film. The premise is dumb. Paul Blart is a nice, committed father and son who wants to be a New Jersey state patrolmen. Even though he’s overweight, he is very good every time he goes to the Police Academy but invariably falls short due to hypoglycemia. (I guess they never told him there were drugs for this.) So he settles for a job as a security guard/officer at an upscale mall in North Orange, New Jersey. He’s a lovable loser, which is the same role he played in television’s The King of Queens and in Hitch. When some terrorists take over the mall on the day after Thanksgiving, hoping to capture the credit card codes (I told you the premise was dumb), Blart springs into action. He fumbles, bumbles, and schemes. And viola, he turns into the hero (did I give something away?). Oh yeah, did I say he gets the girl? (Whoops, another slip!) Don’t see this movie unless you just want to see Kevin James play slapstick.
