Young At Heart

Young at Heart (The Young and Heart Chorus) — Meet a group of septuagenarians and older senior citizens living in Northampton, Massachusetts, whose lives revolve around singing in a chorus and performing around the world a repertoire from rap to country.  The vision of a man named Bob Cilman, age 53, who directs the group with a strong hand and warm heart, this “family” of men and women devote considerable time and almost all of their energy to the group.  They’re skeptical sometimes, scared occasionally, and downright gutsy always.  They’re also “characters,” a cadre of comrades of different races, nationalities, and religions.  Above all, they are people of hope and substance who have found a new calling late in life.  The documentary, directed by Stephen Walker, is heartrending, funny, sad, and encouraging.  And because of that, this makes it quite uncharacteristic and a must-see.
