Blades of Glory

Blades of Glory (Will Ferrell, Jon Heder, Jenna Fisher, Craig T. Nelson) – Will Ferrell returns to form in this fanciful farce of two banned figure skaters who join forces to form the first all-male pairs team. The premise is stupid and so is the plot, but who cares?  It’s a Will Ferrell movie!  The overflow crowd loved the fun, talked to the movie and laughed hysterically at all the right places.  Ferrell plays the bad boy who finds a friend, and Heder hams it up as the squeaky clean innocent whose rivalry with the Ferrell character went too far.  The surprise, if there was any, was in the Jenna Fisher performance.  She plays the receptionist in TV’s The Office and she is a delight as the sister of the leading pairs skaters who are challenged by the Ferrell/Heder duo.  Go for the laughs and forget plot, logic and art.
