I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry

I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry (Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Jessica Biel) – Adam Sandler is the most bankable star in Hollywood.  Really! The box office of his films eclipses anyone else’s over the past five years or so.  Kevin James converted admirably to the big screen from TV’s King of Queens in Hitch.  So how could this throwaway comedy be so predictably bad and forgettable?   Easy.  Without a good script but with a ridiculous plot, this buddy film tries to send a message about homophobia while stereotyping gay people at the same time.  Chuck and Larry are great friends and very good firefighters.  But when Larry’s (or is it Chuck’s?) pension is potentially threatened by his failure to change his beneficiary after his wife died, they decide to get married for the sake of his kids (wouldn’t the kids get the money anyhow?).  The wedding scene, presided over by Sandler’s Saturday Night Live fellow alum Rob Schneider (who gets cameos in all of Adam’s movies), is one of the few funny bits in the film.  The rest is part slapstick, part serious, mostly boring and forever yuck!  And while people went to see this to the tune of about $120 million, you should wait till it gets to video (if you dare).
